Spilsbian coverThe Spilsbian

'The Spilsbian' was the official School Magazine of the King Edward VI Grammar School.

The first copy appeared in July 1927 and until the 1950's was produced twice yearly. Throughout the 50's and 60's it became more of an annual publication and in 1968 ceased to be a professionally printed booklet and a smaller version was then produced 'in house' until the final copy came out in 1970/71.

Each edition contained reports on School events - speech days, plays, sports days, sporting records with match details and comments about performance, items of interest submitted by pupils and staff and generally gave a fairly detailed account of school life during the preceding half year.

It is hoped this website will eventually contain full copies of all editions of the magazine, but at present some copies are missing

- Nos 1 (the firstedition), 4, 6, 7, 9, 12, 13, 16 ,20, 23, 25, 29, 30 32, 34 41, 50, 60.

If you have any of these magazines we should very much like to borrow them, copy them and return them to you - unharmed !! '
